The Bashkir State Opera House greeted the audience for the first time on December 14, 1938.

Today it holds the popular international festivals of opera art "Shalyapin evenings in Ufa" which have been organized by the theater since 1991.

The history of the theater is inseparably linked with the name of the brilliant dancer of the 20th century, Rudolf Nureyev. It was in Ufa where he made his first steps on the way to the world fame. Since 1993, the festivals of the Ballet Art n.a. Rudolf Nureyev have been held.

In different years the Opera House hosted the leading dancers of the Bolshoi and Mariinsky theaters, dancers from Brazil, Argentina, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Japan, Latvia, USA, creative collectives "Grigorovich-ballet", "Russian ballet" of V. Gordeev , Cairo Ballet, etc.
